Hyperfest 07 - Summit Point Motorsports Park

#50 A.W.E.S.O.M.-0 Miata

On June 23rd & 24th, 2007 racers, drifters, vendors and thousands of spectators descended upon Summit Point Raceway to experience the 6th Annual Hyperfest Event. Located near Harpers Ferry, the raceway was transformed into an auto amusement park for a fun-filled weekend of non-stop track action. NASA PRO ROAD RACING sponsered many classes of professional events including the The Honda Challenge, American Iron Series, Factory Five Racing Challenge series, German Touring Sportscar (GTS) Challenge, Spec Miata Class and many others. Of particular interest to me was the Spec Miata Class racing. Adam, with his A.W.E.S.O.M.-O race team, has been campaigning the #50 A.W.E.S.O.M.-0 Miata for a couple of years. The Spec Miata Class is a successful New Division. Miata Challenge presented by NASA, allows the amateur racer to compete in a Pro series for prize money and contingencies while keeping a modest operating budget. Tight rules make for huge fields and super close racing from drivers looking to showcase their skills. The qualifying runs were late morning on Saturday & Sunday with race times late in the afternoon. There were four oppotunities to photograph the Spec Miatas and see how Adam faired among his peers. On Saturday he qualified 7th in the A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 50 and finished 5th in a red flagged shortened race. On Sunday he qualified 5th and finished 6th. The photographs that follow are mostly of these two qualifying events and two races.
