Connecticut Huskies vs Pepperdine Waves

A.J. Price led four Connecticut players in double figures Wednesday night at the Hartford Civic Center with 17 points as the 14th-ranked Connecticut Huskies put away Pepperdine in the second half to a 88-66 victory and remain undefeated. The Waves were on fire in the 1st half from behind the arc living and dying with the 3-point shot. Pepperdine went 8 of 15 on three pointers led by Tomas Pranciliauskas, who was 4 of 5 on 3s contributing to his 22 points. But the Waves couldn't get it done in next 20 minutes and were only 3-of-13 from 3-point range in the second half. UConn controlled the paint for the entire game. Pepperdine was outrebounding 48-28 and was totally dominated inside by Connecticut's height advantage. Far from looking like the 3-11 record that Pepperdine holds, the Waves were relentless in their attack. Freshman center Hasheem Thabeet hit all seven of his shots, part of his 15 point, 7 rebound effort and sophomore Jeff Adrien made all six of his shots. Adrien finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Some notes on the game: This was Coach Jim Calhouns's 743rd victory (495 at UConn and 248 at Northeastern). A.J. Price committed 7 turnovers out of Connecticut's total of 18 The foul line was no help to Pepperdine as they accumulated 24 fouls to UConn's 14. UConn's shot 67% from the stripe. UConn led by only 4 at the half, 0-36. The final score was Connecticut 88 Pepperdine 66.
